I watched the video and was sorry I couldn't make it. As a somebody that ran a SCRUM team I am a little defensive on how SCRUM was portrayed. Some comments:
1. One of the primary objectives of SCRUM is for teams to get to a hyper productive state. One of the primary tenets are to develop team cohesion by allowing the team to make commitments to deliver the promised stories at the end of the sprint. Allowing new work to enter the stream and not complete the work they committed to undermines this commitment.
2. The story board is a suggested way of communicating stories and work in progress. It is not prescriptive in how it should look like and further categorizing it a lean fashion is perfectly acceptable.
3. There is something to be said to get into a release rhythm. It allows you to synchronize a lot of external activities to these accomplishments. With complex systems and multiple customers it becomes difficult to keep track of all your installations and to synchronize everything. Answering questions like: "Who needs this critical update?" becomes more difficult to manage.
That doesn't mean I think this is not an additional excellent tool in the toolbox.
